Wonderful ! :-):-) Reeds / SCA has played such an important part in the lives of people across the Warrenpoint area for so many years. I am sure these short films will bring back many memories. In my 50 years my only visit to the factory was back in the late 60's when I was in Miss McDonald's class , P4. We had a young student teacher back then...a certain James O'Sullivan.... who organised a trip for the class down to Reeds and we had a wonderful day!

Thank you for these very emotive cine films showing old friends, neighbours & family members. As northbrook said, many have passed away though some are still going strong. My two uncles worked in the "Box Factory" from it's beginnings as Thompson & Norris until their retirement, by which time it was Reed Corrugated Cases. My uncle John features in both sections with a very good clip in the second one. Would it be possible to get a direct link to these on uTube? I would love to send the link to some of his family. I had to watch the second one twice - the first time I was too emotional to see it clearly... it's one thing to look at still photos, to see a much loved uncle walking towards you with a smile is something else entirely.

Absolutely brillant films, they brought back many happy memories of the time I worked in the factory from early 1948 until 1954 when I transferred to Edinburgh. I recognised many off my dear workmates but sadly many are no longer with us.
I managed to complete 50 years with the company.
It is great that films like these are still around.
Kindest regards to all my friends who may remember me.

Warreypoint - I worked in the Sales Office
at Reeds for 5 years, and never did get
to see how the Factory produced.
I saw many a finished product, but never
from scratch.
After seeing the films, I think I would have
liked that.
My Dad, Brother and Sister all worked there,
so it does hold a special place for me.
Thank you for posting these, I really enjoyed
them.

Thanks for this wonderful film Garbhan, Pat had mentioned it to me - I couldn't have asked for a better clip of daddy as he had a lovely smile on his face, mind you it had me in tears even before i got to that bit!
