Brian - I enjoyed that, very nice.
This kind of thing is springing up all over
the place.
We had a similar experience at Christmas,
where people were eating at a Food Court,
when all of a sudden someone started singing
and the others were strategically placed at different
tables at the Mall, they started singing as well
It was so enjoyable.
I'm going to try and e.mail it to you so you can post
it.

Enjoyed both videos, wonder if that would work in Eurospar an English German combo. :rotfl:

Two great videos throughly enjoyed them.

I've been watching/listening to BBC 4 TV since 9pm. It started with Christy Moore Live
from the BBC, then at 10pm Folk Hibernia for 2 1/2hrs.
and now it's Christy Moore again until 1.30am., then Folk Hibernia until
3am. So, I'm celebrating my St. Patrick's day now as there was nothing worth
watching/listening to yesterday!!

Somehow I don't think aussie chef's size 12s would be up to it, Irish dancing never featured very highly on his list of hobbies and interests!! ;)

Enjoyed watching both pieces, isn't it lovely to see people's reactions when they're surprised?

ggg.- I think that's what I loved about them
too, is the look of surprise on everyone's
faces.

Thanks for those Brian, how could we organise one of those?? It looks such fun. Perhaps a collection for charity at the end?

"flash mobs" are easy enough to organise - all you need is a PA system already in place somewhere big enough, and then you simply arrange a few very secret practise sessions before hand. (really just like a musical number in the pantomime) Once you have the music and dance worked out, when and where you do it depends on a lot of things but collections are frowned upon (unless previously legally booked) but the idea is that it is supposed to be "spontaneous" and once done the performers simply melt away back into the crowd as if nothing happened leaving the onlookers slightly baffled :D Obviously someone will be tipped off to film the event but the fun really is in the total randomness and spontaneity of it :D

another example, this time not a flashmob but an end of training video from the states.

and the full version:

Unfortunately marketing executives have caught on, and now some corporate "flashmobs" have started appearing featuring paid actors and dancers with full professional sound systems and video equipment - not the same in my opinion.

Just watching a few alternative flashmob videos online and I love the pillow fight ones! The best are the ones with peoples responses being recorded. But what a fun thing to be involved in.

Brian - Enjoyed those videos, but I agree
with you it has to be spontaneous.
If they are hiring professionals to make
these videos, it just wouldn't be the same.

Brian - they have made a new version of the
"Hawaii Five O" show here. I don't know if
you can get it over there.
You were probably too young to remember the
old series.
A great show. :D

Hi Brian
Julie and James now live a couple of hundred yards from Central Station in Sydney. I'm sure they will be surprised to know there are so many Irish dancers in Sydney. I'll send them the link.
