From Ged McKinley

Coffee morning in St Peter's Pastoral Centre on Saturday 3-11-12

Organised by Amy Owens and Geraldine Gaul, Mums from Rathfriland and Warrenpoint.

It was for Anti-Bullying Awareness, and raising funds for Wristbands for schools.

Sponsors were Jamie at home, Heartbeat Poetry, Heaven Scent FM Perfumes...

These were taken this morning and maybe you could stick them up on the Forum and Facebook.

The word "bullying" is horrible.
It is widespread over here.
Young girls and boys taking their own
lives because of bullying at school.
Just the other day, a High School
near us, a boy was caught on video,
walking up behind another student,
and punching him on the side of the
head.
I hope I never have to experience something
like that with my grandson.

I was not aware of about this event. Bullying still goes on and not only schoolchildren. In the workplace and even by family members.
I know it has reached new heights in school. What have we come to as a society.

Peace in society depends on peace in the home. To combat bullying we must look closer to homes and parenting.

I would like to comment on the bullying starting at home if you don't mind...I was ready at the ripe young age of 45 to get back out into the work force as my two young kids were well settled in school...I'm sorry but I was actually bullied at work, I ended up having a breakdown and am now able to admit it!! I don't care that I am going public about this as I know there are more than me suffering! It's something that no one should have to tolerate!!..

I agree bullying in the workplace is common nowadays and this must be nipped in the but as soon as it occurs and you have done well for sharing this with us, thank you. For children that are bullied at school the results can more traumatic for a younger person as they are still immature and cannot handle this as well as an adult can...bullying is unacceptable in any form or shape!

Well done Dee for speaking out, anyone who knows you would assume you are a totally capable person, well able to defend herself against bullies......but it got to you!!!
We all need help in standing up to people who bully us,especially young children and teenagers who wouldn't be as confident as most adults.
