Now working - although I won't be taking any bets on how long before somebody abandons their car on it as usual

Brian - that's good to see lights in
that stretch.

Hope it will run smoothly.

On enquiry I was informed that the traffic wardens have no authority over the road way.(They only deal with the violation of parking rules) . Any blockage on the road is a matter for the PSNI.
How should a motorist deal with a parked car inside the zig-zag markings outside the Genoa? Do you overtake and face oncoming traffic in the TWO lanes approaching from Dock Street direction or do you build up a backlog of traffic onto Church Street? Or do you just sit in behind and hoot , hoot until they move !!!!!!

The new crossing will be welcomed.

Not so sure about motors having to
cross two lanes of oncoming traffic
to get into the Square to park.

Bad enough bottleneck when it was
one lane.

I don't understand why the entrance
and exit wasn't moved to the Dock Wall
side of the Square, and so ease traffic
flow from Church St.

Today I witnessed a deadlock of traffic outside Genoa/Diamonds.
An inconsiderate driver double parked on throughlane outside Genoa enjoying his Icecream and refusing to move.
Maybe it is time for more stringent reinforcement of traffic laws in the town.
Also witnessed car " abandoned " across the pedestrian crossing.

That's an everyday occurrence and the ignorance of the drivers is staggering and its not age or gender related either ~x(

Hi Brian .... a very interesting and constructive response but how do you deal with "driver ignorance" and blatant violation of road traffic laws.

Ever since the current road layout went in years ago the question of the exit at the first and last has been raised. I'm sure there is a written answer somewhere (Jim Boylan would know) as for the parking enforcement needs to be more vigorous and indeed the figures I have seen for tickets issued so far this year show a marked increase (although they are not area specific) It seems that illegal parking is acceptable to those that do it and until the message gets across (with more tickets issued) I suppose it will be a while yet. There is a Facebook page that shows up those responsible but due it's rather colourful name I won't even attempt to link to it!
