Craters in Duke Street/Upper Dromore Road

#1 Post by RuairíF » Fri Feb 11, 2011 10:15 pm

I see the potholes (and that's being nice!) have been filled in after alot of pressure from local media and politicians. On closer inpection some have been filled wih compacted grit. Sadly all the traffic and rain will only allow the holes to reappear. If (and it's looking very much like it) we have another perlonged cold spell the problem will only get worse. Duke Street is in need of resurfacing something should be done!

Indeed it does. Supposedly Charlotte Street was to be resurfaced in January - it is still waiting - It's not good enough, it is bad enough having to negotiate through traffic at the best of time with ignorant selfish idiots double parking and abandoned lorries all over the place without having to avoid holes in the road as well.

Outside the Genoa is worse for double parking! Seems the road improvements are now a car park for those who could not be bothered walking from the square. For the first time in years you can now park in without searching for spaces!

Went up Charlotte street tonight with Ged in his car and it's looking good (not finished yet obviously but still good) Thing is, it almost felt weird not getting that "roller-coaster" effect going past the junction :rotfl:

Give them time and no doubt they will have it dug up again, for no reason, as the powers that do be, don't seem to talk to each other, hopefully I'm wrong, but we'll just have to wait and see, any odds on it?? ^-)

I'm sure the city council is waiting for the frost to leave the road before repairing. It takes time.
