Bacillus thuringiensis or Bt, as it is commonly known
is effective, sprayed on your plants.

It messes up their digestive system and they stop feeding
and die.

Home remedy I've heard of : dust your plants, when wet, with
plain flour......the caterpillars get covered and they fall off.!!

Shame to kill them..........butterflies are scarce.

Happy hunting.!

You feel awful because they are eating
away at everything, but at the same time
you are losing these lovely butterflies.
It's rare to see a lot of Butterflies here.
I know there are certain flowers that
you plant, if you want to attract them.

Is it the cabbage white butterfly that is the pest? I've always thought that if you have a patch/pot of nasturtiums in the garden they'll probably go for those before anything, but I'm not sure how true this is. They do consume them voraciously, though, so it kind of makes sense if you're not worried about the nasturtiums - although they might encourage even more butterflies!
