Last Tuesday the 4th May, freak waves hit the south coast of France. Caused by a shift in climatic and tidal conditions, waves as high a 4 storey buildings crashed into the coast!

The first photo was taken on the mobile from the car in Nice. The Promenade was covered in stones and debris from the beach. The sea was full of tables and chairs, never seen anything like it in my life!

So we rushed back to the house in Villefranche and got my camera and shot the remainder of photos.

The strangest thing was there wasnt a breath of wind....very surreal!

Excellent shots, I would have been using a very long lens on as high as ground as possible to get them mind you :D

Quite incredible. Amazing photos. We have visited Villefranche on a couple of occasions and there have always been very calm seas as we were tendered in from the cruise ships. Fabulous holiday spot.

Victor, the cruise ship that was sitting off shore had to leave to another destination and the poor passengers has to be bused to meet it again.
