Hi Northbrook

A wild guess - rice paddy fields beside the Yangtze River in China!

Not as far away as China Jim but you need this substance to flavour the rice, Bornandbred, HDR, 3 images processed in Dynamic Photo , the colours here range from deep red to pale blue depending on the light and time of day...............................................

One of the many picturesque Churches on the island ....................................................
Mancha Blanca is most famous for the church of Los Dolores and the annual fiesta which takes place there. This church was constructed because of a promise made by the villagers to the Virgin during the volcanic eruptions of the 18th Century. The Lava flow that had threatened to destroy the village stopped when an effigy of the Virgin was brought to the Volcano.
It is also said that during these same eruptions, a young boy was rescued from the erupting Volcano by the Virgin.
The Virgin is celebrated every year at the Island's most important fiesta, La Romeria de Los Dolores, on 15th of September.
The high ground in the foreground is the solidified lava flow ..............................

Timanfaya National Park
The Montañas del Fuego (Fire Mountains) were created between 1730 and 1736 when more than 100 volcanoes, covering more than 50 km², rose up and devastated this part of the island (including several villages). The last eruptions were in 1824, however due to the low rainfall (and therefore lack of erosion) this area appears much the same as it did just after the eruptions. In 1968 the area was declared a national park.
