Thanks to Pat McGivern, Ciaran O'Hare and John Burns for these, I felt they deserved their own thread :D

Topics merged :D

That was a great day, and is one that always sticks in my mind - We had arranged a small party for the band in the cellar bar of the marine afterwards, and after the lads had signed a few autographs in the shop they all went round there. Of course somebody had to stay behind and look after the shop :((

I did eventually get round after closing, and had a quick pint before the band headed off to Newry to play. (A concert I did not actually go to as truth be told I was not a huge fan of the band) Still a good days fun - especially as while the band played outside there was no work to do inside :rotfl:

A few years ago, when my sister used to work in Havern's, the lead singer came inside the shop looking for directions to the home of a local musician. So he has been back in town (maybe many times) since that day.

That was a VERY big day for me and my friends who were huge Hot House Flowers fans. A gang of us got talking to the band after they played and then they called us up on stage to sing backing vocals at the gig in Newry - which we nearly killed ourselves trying to get over the barrier to do. Lol - happy memories.
I met Liam again last year in Belfast and over a pint or two I reminded him about playing in the Point and even remembered the name of the shop!!

I've 'unearthed' a few more photos from that day....as soon as I get them scanned I'll add them to the site......including a few close-up's of the band members signing autographs.

:clapping: Yes.....that's Alan(Bungo) Brown with Born and Bred's son in law,Sean Sherry, beside him.
In the last picture Micky O'sullivan and Micky Rice on the left hand side with Ben Byrne leaning against a car in the foreground, talking to Christy Magennis.

thats Paula Hayes looking very serious in the third pic. With special guest appearence by the side of my curly bap hair. And I reckon that might be my cousin Christy Magennis in the last picture looking all dark and brooding in the denim jacket?
