Newry Stations

#1 Post by Brian » Wed Sep 07, 2016 10:54 am

A few Newry pictures now, from the National Library of Ireland's collection these photos were taken by James P. O'Dea. The ones of Dublin Bridge station and Edward Street No2 platform were taken on September the 5th 1959 and the others on March 2nd 1963 just 2 years before Warrenpoint station closed.

I was just thinking the same thing Maureen. I too have great memories of travelling
by train to the Tech in Newry around that date, 1959. By heck that was a long time ago!

Coral - 1959 I was going to start
in the Office at Reeds.
Just turned 16 and I wanted to
go back to School for another year,
but the Teacher forwarded my name
to Reeds and worked there until
1964 when I emigrated with Don to
Canada.
That is indeed a long time ago.

After thinking about this it could have been 1958 when I was at
the Tech. Only stayed a year and when I was 15 I applied for and got
the job of Pond Girl at the Baths! That was where I met Philip and Alfie
Crozier, along with lots of other lovely people.
