Had a little email from the BBC
Did you or either of your parents work on the railways? Do you have memories of getting the train from Warrenpoint to Newry or stories to tell about the railway? If so I’d love to hear from you. My name is Jane Magowan and I’m producing a three part series for BBC Northern Ireland in which presenter Barra Best searches out some of the disused railway lines that once criss-crossed the country. One of our programmes features the line that ran from Armagh to Warrenpoint and I’m really keen to discover some local stories and history associated with the railway, whether it’s about the people who emigrated from Newry and Warrenpoint ports, day trippers and tourists or simply the day to day routine of getting the train to work or school, I’d like to hear from you.
