CCTV in Duke Street?

#1 Post by Eugene » Sun May 07, 2017 6:15 pm

On Saturday evening May 06th I parked my car in Duke Street between The Duke Off Sales and the Bespoke hairdressing salon while Myself and wife had a meal in Fusion restaurant. we were gone from 6.15 to approx 8.00 pm and when we walked back over to the car we discovered the windscreen shattered.
Someone obviously struck it with something fairly heavy. I phoned the police but they rightly said if there are no witnesses and no obvious clues left as to who done it there was no point directing police there from another town, but they logged it and gave me an incident number.
Does anyone know if Duke Street is covered by CCTV? Have there been other incidents like this?

Duke street is covered, and the police would know that but if the camera was pointing the wrong way (as is usually the case) then that's probably no use. Only possibility is if any of the business premises near the car might have outside cameras? It's not something I've heard of before down there but nothing surprises me these days.

Eugene I hope whoever did that will be
found.
What a horrible way to spoil an
evening out.

Grrrr....what sort of person does this sort of thing?

Whatever was used isn't the sort of thing you carry
around in your pocket.

In broad daylight on a lovely evening, someone must
have seen something.

As for the camera....been admitted a number of street
cameras are dummies, used as visual deterrents, and
if it was operational...was it running?
