Do you know anybody?

#1 Post by Brian » Sat Aug 22, 2009 10:32 am

Posted for Greengrass, this is one of a couple of "end of roll" negatives found in the bottom of an old tin box, so I have done what I can with it to try and bring it up a bit. I have no info on it at present, so maybe somebody here might know a few faces?

The boy in the second row who is looking over the shoulder of the little red haired lad looks like John McCann ;--)

Yes that is John 'Victor' McCann. Also in the front row is Kevin 'Rusty' Heaney, Eamon Boyle (ex-Summerhill), Stephen Kelly (ex-Thomas St./ Clermont Gdns.)
Behind them is the late Sean Madden (ex Great Georges St.), maybe Martin Sheills(ex-Clermont Gdns.) and Geordie Dinsmore (Lr. Dromore Rd.) as well, I think that Paddy Rafferty (ex The Square) could be there also?
I am not sure, but I believe this could be a group from St. Peter's who received Holy Communion in 1956 or Confirmation in Mayobridge about two years later. I would love to see the whole picture. Any chance of seeing it?

Unfortunately not - as I mention that was taken from an old negative and that was the best I could do with it. Possibly a copy of the actual photo may show up though.

Only 8 years later. lol
Recently a Facebook page called "Mayobridge Memories" kicked off and this photo was posted on it about a week or two ago.
A lot of the lads in it were identified as being from Mayobridge but there were a number that no one named, obviously as Warrenpoint, Burren & Mayobridge were all in the one parish back then, they must have went for Communion, & Confirmation together.
