Fishing competion?

#1 Post by joanne » Fri Jan 13, 2012 10:28 am

I am not quite sure where to post this picture. It was taken during the weigh in following one of the many fishing competions held on the lough. The thing I found most interesting is the change in the beach in such a short space of time and the angle the photo was taken from.

I've ran that through photoshop to clear it up a wee bit, and I could be wrong but would that be a bicycle bell in the foreground? If so, a quick deduction is that the photo was taken by somebody sitting on a bike :D

Well done Sherlock :rotfl: ......perhaps a post bike, and the picture could have been taken by a postman who took a spin around the shore to make sure things were going ok :D

I can remember fishing competitions , perhaps mid to late 70's or even early 80's, with the fish being 'dumped' after the 'weigh-in' into large skips at that location....quite a site and rather smelly too ! Some quite large fish were caught including something called Tope which apparently would be a type of shark !
I think these events were part of the local festival, pre 'Maidens of the Mournes' days.....? 'Gala Week' ??
