Why would street names be changed?

Queen Victoria, (who was on the throne from 1837-1901,) had 9 children, among them were Adelaide, Albert, Beatrice, Victoria and George, so it is possible some Warrenpoint street names and terraces were named after her offsprings? When St. Peter's Catholic Church was constructed in the 1840's, possibly that was the reason for the change of name from Adelaide Street to St. Peter's Street. I don't know who Thomas Street was named after? Any one know who Charlotte Street was named after?

Re: Charlotte Street.

I think there is a post already on the forum about the re-naming of Charlotte Street.
But, sorry can't remember exactly when. Maybe 18 months or 2years ago.
