Inside Narrowater castle in Victorian times

#1 Post by Brian » Tue Mar 12, 2013 3:49 pm

Photos courtesy of Bill Hall - all photographs remain the copyright of the Hall family and may not be reproduced without permission.

These photographs are from the Victorian era (circa 1890)

This photo is also quite interesting as it shows (top right) a set of antlers from an Irish elk taken from a local bog many years earlier.

(more to follow later)

Brian,

Fantastic to see inside the Castle.

I often wondered what the inside was like.

My thanks to Bill Hall for allowing us the privilege.

Brian, some time ago there was a T.V programme
on the Castle in which I seem to remember some
mention of opening the Castle to visitors.

Do you know if that is the case?

It's not open to visitors at the moment as far as I know.

Meanwhile here are two more snaps of the interior as it was over 100 years ago.

Fantastic ceilings and doors.

Dusting would have been a nightmare.
