Of the nineteen candidates who stood for the Urban Council elections of 1961, only three of those men are still here today, and long may they continue to do so.
Pat Finnison, Slieve Foy Place, Peter Moore, Clermont Gardens, and Billy McKinley of Newry Street are the three survivors.

Warrenpoint had twelve councillers rooting for the Town, I think we only have two representatives today.

Where was Jim McCart in those days, had he not been invented in 1961?

People can criticize all they like, but I do believe those men had the interests of the town at heart.
