Sometimes I pretend to be normal, but it gets boring so I go back to being myself

I've often thought how sad it is that no-one thought to preserve this unique feature of Warrenpoint & provide public access to it.

We had a discussion about the windmill on the old forum

As mentioned in that post, the windmill is actually still accessible (to a point) simply walk up the alleyway behind Euro-spar and its up on your left hand side.

It's not too far gone to restore, but space is so tight around it you would never be able to anyway.

Thanks for the link Brian, I hadn't seen that discussion.

I wasn't implying that anyone in recent times could remedy the neglect suffered by the windmill - far too late in the day for that. I know it's possible to walk up that laneway, if it's not blocked by delivery lorries (like most of the street, most of the time!)

In many ways it's like lots of historic ruins all over Ireland - especially in the south. You can be driving along & suddenly see an amazing ruined castle or fort etc. with nary a sign or symbol to indicate what it was or who it belonged to. I know not everyone has the same feelings about these things, but as one who has a great imterest in history, I find it sad.
That's all!
