They may not be smiling,Whitestar. But at least someone had the forethought in those days to have someone hold a slate stating the year of the photo. :D I am really looking forward to someone naming some of these girls as I am not sure of any of them ;--)

I think this is a wonderful picture and glad it is being preserved on this website as it doesn't look in too good a state.

What would the kids now-a-days think if they had to go to school dressed in "hand me downs" like some of these little ones, we have alot to be thankful for.

Thanks to Craig McDonald for giving this photo to Bernie to post, and thanks to btq1for naming them....I find it warming to see my mum as a little girl, she looks a little cutie(well I think so)I've never seen a photo of her so young.....in fact when I first looked at the pic I thought there was a resemblance to a Hughes, then when I saw the names I was gobsmacked to see it was my mum.bless.

Mdhughw, I think we have all been surprised and delighted with what the forum has revealed particularly of our parents in their younger years, I think most of us can share that feeling with you, it shows again how important this forum is to all of us as we get older, and to see that your mother and Agatha really were life long friends ............................

No pressure Brian !!!!!!!!!!! .................................

another great photo, and yes Della your mom is a little cutie.
None of the kids are smiling. Maybe they were told to behave
and they just didn't want to smile. ~x(

I totally agree with you xpaddy,I'm sure fury would come to surface with the relatives of these youngsters at the thought of such a remark,I'm thinking maybe the remark was not meant to offend, but only to outline how difficult times could have been back then for some.

A perfect piece of photpgraphy. Considering the age of the picture the clarity is terrific. I'm sure the forum members, related to those in the picture, will treasure it always.
