I caught a bit of the show today during rehearsals and can confirm it is indeed very funny - I'm not going to give anything away so you will just have to come along and see for yourself :D

Got my tickets already, and can't wait to see the show!!

Always enjoy the panto and would like to say congratulations to all concerned on each and every wonderful production over the past 60 years!

Was Bobby in the first show back in 1950? Was Jean there too? If so they could possibly challenge Bill Roache (Coronation Streets' Ken Barlow), who this November may enter the Guinness book of records as longest serving actor in some category (caught a snippet on tv the other day) .Just a thought!

Yes !! Bobby was there, the giant`s house-keeper he was, and his miming of Figaro was one of the funniest I ever heard , Jean was there also and of course Christy. Peter Moore was the Dame...............................and not to be left out, Jimmy Dinsmore and myself were Stormy`s assistants.............

I am not so sure that Bobby was in the first panto ;--) ......and I haven't got time to go through the archives at the moment....will ask later.

Northbrook, the mime you remember was from the barber shop scene in Babes in the Wood......1955.Mummy was saying that one night, just as the Bobby was about to start singing(miming), he accidentally knocked the mike over with one hand, and expertly caught it with the other hand. She said it was one of the funniest things she ever saw as the timing was perfect.......and of course, the audience thought it was part of the act. :D

I`m going totally from memory on this one Joanne I thought the first time I heard that mime was front of curtain in the first Panto, could be wrong though, I know it was repeated a few years later, I still laugh when I think of it ..................good man Bobby.

 You are probably right ,Northbrook.......the mime could have been used for the first time in Jack and the beanstalk.
And thanks Bernie for posting the programme...... I meant to ask Bobby at last nights panto, but forgot.

What year was that I wonder? I remember Brian talking about a pantomime he was in, probably the very first one he was in as he was very young, and he was wearing satin trousers (the mind boggles!) and I gather nerves got the better of him and.............well, I'll leave the rest to your imagination! Hopefully it didn't impede his singing, it usually took quite a lot to do that!!

I forgot about Bobby doing the miming.
He was very good at it.
I remember going to see this Panto, and
Kathleen sang "Lavender Blue".
I remember Jack Hogg presenting her
with a beautiful arrangement of
Roses, so this could have been the
last night?
btq1 - enjoyed reading the programme.

Last night tonight folks, there are still a few tickets for tonight's performance.....and being Valentine's night I am sure there will be a few extra special moments :D
I watched the show as a member of the audience last night and thoroughly enjoyed it............a laugh from start to finish :rotfl:
It's a pity that Bobby hasn't been able to do the past few nights due to illness :cold_flu: ......if you are reading this Bobby,I hope you are feeling a lot better @-->>
