I'm sure I've said it before, but these photos of Billy McKinley's are invaluable and so enjoyable......you just never know who or what is going to pop up next.....it's like a potted history of so many facets of life in Warrenpoint over such a long time. I'm sure lots of other forum members get as much enjoyment from them as I do; not just all the familiar faces of people no longer with us, but the memories they trigger of places and events and characters.

Personally I think there's a book in there if they were all put together (and of course if Billy agreed), maybe as a fundraiser for a local charity like the hospice. It's only a thought...................

A great collection of photographs !

2nd photo - a young Peter Rooney receiving the cheque. Peter of course left these shores many years ago for Australia...sometime around the mid 1980's I think .. ~x( Jim Heaton looking on from the right of the photo....is that Dougie Boylan making the presentation? One of the Morgans looking on from the left. I don't recognise the chap at the back.

3rd photo - a very young looking Sean Boylan receiving a sponsorship cheque for the Pool League from Ken Willoughby (not sure of the spelling ! ) with Fintan McGreevy, Peter Rice (RIP) and Frankie McDonald looking on.

6th photo - Ronan Rafferty on the left and a young Ian Woosnam standing at the front. Not sure of the guys at the back but I presume the photo was taken back in the late 1980's ....(?? 1987) at one of the big Pro Am's that were held in Warrenpoint.

Think that might be Collette Grant rather than Mary Mulvenna ;--)

Correct bandsman, it's the late Mags Grant.......a lovely lady. She was married to Terry Grant, brother of Kevin.

I'm glad someone is alert to my ramblings....of course I should have typed 'Peter Rooney'.......for some reason the McGivern keeps coming across my mind.... I wonder why !! :rotfl: :rotfl:

Photo 8 Peter Grant (RIP) receiving the cheque.

(Looks like Mark McClorey (RIP) to the right over the shoulder of the man on Peter's left)

These were the stars of a production of 'Our Town' by 'Warrenpoint Youth Theatre' (run by Eamon Fitzpatrick).

Geraldine Beggs, Cathal Tinnelly, Declan Ryan, Melanie Greenhill and Paul Devine (in the pram).

Think it would have been about 1988.

;--) As far as I can remember both Melanie Greenhill and David Reoch were 40 last year, leaving them born in 1970.They look a bit more that 8 in these photos ;) :D ...........have to say though,I don't think the photos were taken in 1988 either(as someone previously guessed)

It was me who said 1988, now think 1985 is probably nearer the mark.

Geraldine is wearing her Newry High uniform skirt which means its at least 1982,but I think Melanie and Geraldine look about 14 there.

I was in the group too so really should be able to work this out, but hard to remember.
