Peter & northbrook : Looking through the posts again, the location referred to by Peter is clearly not the one referred to in the O.S. Memoirs but that still leaves the distinctive shape of the top stone to be accounted for. Apparently these cromlechs in the North East of a country were normally orientated towards the sunrise ie; East. That location is shrouded by the moutain is the Easterly direction so is it orientated to the mid-day position of the Sun ie due South. Perhaps someone armed a satellite location device could take a bearing at both locations. There is another of these near Burren chapel located in McClory's garden and I wonder, does any member have a photograph of this one. Stanley

I have just had this e-mail :Rostrevor 'dolmen'

Stumbled across your photo of stones in Rostrevor Forest.
Can't believe that they haven't been described before.
They are NOT Kilfeaghan! It looks rather like a wedge-tomb
(somewhat outside the wedge distribution area). If you
give me some co-ordinates or directions, I'll go and
investigate when I'm in county Down later in January. My

Looks as if we may soon have an expert opinion judging from his website. I have given him rough directions and pointed him in the direction of this Forum Peter

Peter : The photograph of the Kilfeagan cromlech on the irishmegaliths.org.uk/zKilkeel.htm is clearly different from the one which you have reported. When you do re-discover it , perhaps Ulster Television or the BBC Northern Ireland would be interested in doing a piece on it. Stanley

Went up this morning to check on Dolmen. Still there! See latest images on http://www.flickr.com/photos/oldgreywolf/

I am still in two minds about this; the multitude of stones around makes genuine Dolmen spotting very difficult. Just a few yards down the path from the Dolmen there is another similar smaller arrangement which is clearly not one.

I think
