I often wondered why it was they used sketches instead of photographs in those books, seeing as they were produced by Lawrence in Dublin - possibly cheaper to print is the only reason I can think of

Brian, can't understand why it was printed in Germany!
Were there no printers in Ireland then? ~x(

I don't know the dates for the sketches but the shops being there mean there would have been no chimney as it was knocked down before they were built. I will assume then that the windmill had also been removed so was not drawn in.

a lot of the tourist books were printed as cheaply as they could and Germany had the best printing machines back then so again I assume that was the reason.
