Bomber Command 49 Squadron, taken in April 1943

I'll leave Maureen to fill in any details but from the email sent we know that Christie Charles is in this photo (8th from right in the 2nd row) and he is mentioned in this thread:

For those older members of the
Forum, I'm sure you would remember
Mrs. Charles.
She lived in Post Office St/Mary St and
had one son Christie.
She knew he had joined the Air Force, but
I think he had told her, that he worked on
the ground, and didn't fly at all.
I guess he didn't want her to worry about him.
Unfortunately he was flying, and his plane went
down in the Irish Sea, along with others
on that flight.
The photo is dated April 1943, a month before I
was born, and I think he was killed in 1944, so
I didn't know him.
Christie had just been married to a girl from
Birmingham, when this happened.
Mrs. Charles kept in touch with her for many
years after this.

Brian - I went into the link you provided
and I hadn't read any of that info. on
Christie.

What happened to Mr. Charles and Mrs. Charles, the parents of Christy?

Thanks Xpaddy for posting that photo, I had never seen a photo of Christy Charles in uniform before although I have a vague memory of seeing him play street football with his mates in Post Office Street. Mrs. Charles I remember well, a gentle lady with a warm Dublin accent .........................................

Northbrook - I knew you would have
liked to see this photo.
Mrs. Charles was indeed a nice person.

Dukestreet - I don't remember Mr. Charles.
I guess he had died before I was born.
Mrs. Charles went into a Nursing Home
in Newry and she died there.
I'm not too sure when, but I think it
may have been around 196l/2.
