Jim Boylan, Chairman of the Narrow Water Bridge Community, along with a number of NWBCN committee members travelled to Dublin to meet an all-party group of TD's from County Louth at Leinster House.

Mr Boylan was delighted at the clear and overwhelming support from the gathered representatives which included Declan Breathnach, Fianna Fáil, Gerry Adams Sinn Féin and Peter Fitzpatrick of Fine Gael. Micheál Martin, leader of Fianna Fáil, in a brief exchange with the NWBCN committee pledged his 100% support for the project.

Mr Boylan also welcomed the appointment of Chris Hazzard as Minister for Infrastructure in the new Stormont Assembly line-up. He praised the new minister on the priority given to a number of infrastructural projects, including the Narrow Water Bridge that were long overdue and should, in the minister's opinion, be brought to completion as soon as possible.

Mr Boylan said that, with the political will gathering, it was crunch-time for the NWB project. It is absolutely critical that the Narrow Water Bridge features on the detailed Program for Government to be published in July.

Both Mr Boylan and his committee are seeking an early meeting with Chris Hazzard to encourage the new minister to ensure that this in fact happens.

Despite a number of very welcome and positive indications in recent weeks, the catastrophic eleventh-hour failure of the project to go ahead in 2013 has taught Jim Boylan and his committee to take nothing for granted.
