Narrow Water Bridge

Despite some negative publicity in the media at the moment there is still everything to hope for.

Negotiations are still going on and it is our understanding that these negotiations are going on at the highest level between the two governments in Dublin and Belfast.

We need all our supporters and all those who see the bridge as vital to the economic future of the communities surrounding Carlingford Lough to lobby strongly their MLAs and TDs to get behind the final negotiations.

For too long the peoples of Warrenpoint and surrounding district have been sidelined and bypassed when the investment is being handed out.

Now is our opportunity to ask our politicians to ask those in power if they could turn their back on a shovel ready, EU grant aided project that would kick start the construction industry and help expand the tourist industry.

This started as a people’s project, we now ask you to lend your strong vocal support.

Narrow Water Bridge

Many people are bitterly disappointed at the news that the Special European Union Programmes Body has withdrawn the offer of grant aid for the Narrow Water Bridge Project. All is not yet lost. There are vital meetings to be held this week.

Remember this has always been a ‘people’s project’ a ‘peoples bridge’. There is no better time now to make your presence felt. Contact your Councillor, MLA, and Member of Parliament who will be attending a vital meeting on Monday with the Deputy First Minister in Stormont. Make politics work for our area.

This will not happen unless you add your weight to the argument.

Brian, there is an ominous silence on this issue.

Has the death knell been sounded,or is there a
possibility that something could still happen. ~x(

Frantic last minute attempts to solve the issue continue, we are all only too aware of the concerns of everyone involved and even at this late stage many of us still believe something can be done, as I understand it we are either going to get a nice Christmas present or a lump of coal. At this stage a simple yes or no is what we are waiting on, but whatever happens we still firmly believe in the process and will (like every one else) just have to wait and see what happens.
