Hi,

I'm based in Australia and have been tracking down my various relatives in a number of Irish locations. I'm keen to know if anyone has any information on the Havern family from Warrenpoint.

I have the following children: Catherine (Kitty), Barney, William, Joesph, Mary Anne and Anne.

Father William Havern (B186?)- Mother Kate Burns??

I have the following streets as points of reference: Meeting Street, Mary Street as well as other places lived in and around where the Liverpool Hotel used to be.

I know some of the above lived in Warrenpoint and Newry before moving on to Australia, Canada (Ontario) and Liverpool.

The last remaining anecdotal contact was with a family called McGee/Magee (Peter?) who I believe still live in Warrenpoint.

If anyone has anything to help me out I'd be over the moon.

Best wishes

Bryan

Amanda,

Thanks for the clarification re Vincent Havern. I'm sure with such a distinct surname he is part of the wider Havern family.

From my earlier post (above) I've now learnt that 2 of the three boys (Barney and Joseph) moved to Liverpool (1905?) so that left William as the only Havern still in Warrenpoint (assuming the girls changed their maiden names once they got married)

There's a lot written in these pages about Vincy and the famous Havern shop with special mention his mother Rose however I'm yet to come across any information as to who his father was - Was it William by any chance?

Things have moved quickly in the past 24 hours and I have estabilished that my great Grandmother Anne Havern (died as Annie Crewe) is buried (ashes) in the same grave in Warrenpoint as her sister Catherine (Kitty) and John Magee.

Also the 1911 census (found on this website) shows Kate Havern living at 2 Meeting Street. I'm wondering if this is my married Great Great Grandmother Kate Burns?

Thanks heeps for your help, and greetings from Down Under.

Bryan

Amanda,

I found a Ros Davis site which is very helpful:
http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.anc ... rosdavies/
- hopefully this is the one you are referring to.

Also if I follow your thread from above:
William Havern (married Mary Ward)
Mary Havern (William's Sister) - Married Patrick Ward (Mary Ward's Brother)

The above is part of your family tree.

And as .....William Havern's and Mary Havern's sister was Anne Havern (my Great Grandmother) that makes you and I distant cousins?

Thanks a million.
Bryan

I have nothing to offer here off the top of my head but I am sort of related to the Burns and the Wards. Good luck with your search.
