Welcome to the Forum.
Not able to give you any info,
other than I had the pleasure of
meeting them a long time ago.
Burlington is about a 45 min drive
from where I live in Canada.
They used to come down to visit
the Hazley Family, who also emigrated
in the 50's to Canada.
I would visit the Hazleys on a regular
basis, and one time they were down visiting,
and I was introduced to them.
Sorry that's all I can offer.

Maureen is this McShane family any cousins of the late Harry McShane, who has family members still living at Lodge View Terrace? Other family members still live in the town.

Dukestreet - I wouldn't have a clue about
that.
I'll mention this thread to Kathleen and
maybe she can throw some light on this.

The parents were Henry and Alicia McShane. The children were John, Henry, Patrick, Ellen Josephine, Madeleine, Bella and Mae. I only know that Madeleine was born 1919 and not sure where she sits as far as oldest or youngest or in between. Madeleine came back to Ireland after moving to Canada with her husband Robert McMahon but left Ireland and went back to Canada in the late 40's.

I dont know how accurate the National Archive of Ireland website is but according to the 1911 census they lived on Church Street Lane. It just listed Alice as head of household and 3 other children but I know Madeleine wasnt born untill 1919.

I remember Harry McShane, he passed away in the late 1950's. His sons John, Jim and Gerard (aka 'Boxer') all live in the 'Point, in fact Jim still lives in the house that Mr. and Mrs. McShane bought when they got married in the 1930's, one of the sons told me that at a Wake a few years ago. The oldest son Pat died about 3/4 years ago. I only know of two girls in that family, Molly who lives down the road in Kilkeel and Theresa who lives in Scotland, I hope I have that the right way round.
There are many grandchildren of Harry McShane in the 'Point today, in fact Christopher and Josephine, a son and daughter of the late Pat both live near me, I will mention this communication if you like.
I never knew Harry McShane had any brothers, I think the late Teddy McNeill's mother was Harry's sister. But she died about 10/15 years ago, I think she was near 90 when she died. Other people on the forum will be able add information which will help you in your search for your relatives.

There is some one on the forum named Northbrook that was mentioning the McShanes moving to Canada. They were talking about a photograph that someone had posted but I cant message him. Also Josie McShane was mentioned in a play with Bella. I think Ellen Josephine was Josie.

Well done there, Dickie! Great memory for names too.
Any idea how Jim, Molly and Theresa are doing? If you get the chance, please tell them "Hello" for me. Thanks.

Pat

I am learning about the McShane
Family myself.
I never knew Mrs McNeill and Mr. McShane
were brother and sister.
Never knew he was a Shoemaker.
Kate where did he do that?
I went to School with Theresa and Mae,
and I don't think I knew they were first
cousins.
I couldn't remember Molly's name.

I see the Forum post regarding the McShane girls of Burlington, Ontario and thought you might kindly relay this for me. Our family members from the Detroit area used to visit them often in Burlington and they were frequent visitors to us here in Michigan. The "girls" were Josie, married to an English fellow Charles? and had no children. Bella was married to Jackie Brown and had Gerrad /Gerard and Patricia. Madeline was married to Robbie McMahon (perhaps a Welshman, but not sure) and had one child, Sheila. Their brother Henry , a cobbler, lived on Ashgrove Terrace where their nephew Jim and his family still live. That's next door up from our Michael (No.3) . My cousin, Deirdre Kelly McManus on Dromore Terrace was reared in Michigan and would likely remember them well, We called them Aunties though they were actually family friends who grew up with our family, the Kellys of Duke Street, Warrenpoint.

A friend from Michigan sent this information to aid the McShane family member in their search for information.
