Hi,

I am currently researching my family tree and believe I have ancestors (or maybe just an ancestor) who lived in Warrenpoint.

I am descended from James Scott of Albert Place, Warrenpoint who died in 1862, but I don't know whom his parents were. None of the records sites seem to have any info on him. Can anyone help me here?

Also, I can't find Albert Place in Warrenpoint, does it still exist?

Thanks,

Bill

Scott of Rathfriland and Warrenpoint
William George Scott of Rathfriland was the younger of James Scott of Loughbrickland's two surviving children. He was possibly brought up by the Scott in Rathfriland, maybe by his uncle Thomas Scott. William George Scott's brother James Scott of Bloomhill was possibly brought up by his half Aunt Margaret Newton (née Hamilton) and with the rest of the Newton family. The reasoning behind this is that William George Scott remained a Presbyterian, whilst James Scott became an Anglican, the religion of the Newtons.

William George Scott (30/11/1800-31/01/1854) married Deborah ___ (-11/04/1873) and had issue:

1. James Scott (-13/01/1862) m. ___

2. Deborah Scott m. (1855), Shudlam Pooley Crawford

James Scott (the only son?) resided at Albert Place, Warrenpoint. He owned and leased out in Rathfriland and Clanvaraghan. James Scott married someone and had a daughter:

Cheers!

That's incredibly helpful, please can you give me a link to where you got the information, it sounds promising!

Thanks again,

Bill
