Would anyone know how I might obtain birth certs for people born in Co. Louth between 1891 and 1900. I obtained one in the long ago for my cousin in the States... I think not totally sure but I went to a hospital or some govt building just on the outskirts of Dundalk and obtained the cert.. I can't remember where. Can anyone help and direct me ... thanks.

I have been able to trace Matthew McCabe my Grandfather's older brother... He fought in the Great War WW1 for the British Army and was badly shell shocked as they called it in that day. Returned home and I think lived in Co. Monaghan . He never recovered and I think he had a tough life as many returning soldiers of that time had. Well Countries then and even now don't look after their vets as they should.. Especially those who are suffer mentally from all the trauma of the wars.... Sadly he died in Ardee Hospital I am not totally sure of this. But it is somewhere in the back of my mind... Oral Family history...

Anyhow Is there anywhere I could locate Military Records for returning soldiers such as Matthew...

Again I anyone can direct or assist me.

Thank you..

Deirdre
